Double suns Penghu Beach Taiwan

An atmospheric phenomenon has shocked many people in Taiwan.

They saw two suns in the skies of Penghu Island.

Discussions on the issue have rapidly flooded the Internet after a photo of the phenomenon was posted online.

One netizen asked: "Why is it like that?" while some speculated that it was a sign of global warming heading towards the end of the world.

Penghu weather station clarified that the event at the Penghu beach was just the sundog phenomenon.

The phantom sun was the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the air.

"This is rare, especially when the 'two suns' are so close to each other," the station chief said.
