For those of you who are following this case, sorry for not been able to keep you updated about this case. My friend a journalist with Georgian Public Broadcasting in Georgia has been chasing me for news but to be honest with you, I was so busy that I failed to attend the recent court hearing for this case.

However, I managed to get some updates about this case from my journalist friend. So here we are on Babutsa Gordadze drug trafficking case again.

The recent hearing for this case was on Monday (10th October 2011) this week before the Kota Kinabalu High Court judge Datuk David Wong Dak Wah. Babutsa Gordadze been accused of drug trafficking, weiging 5.5kg in a hotel in Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu on 25th October 2011.

She was charged under Seksyen 39B (1) (a) under drug act 1952.

The case was postponed again to 18th November 2011, after listening to submission from both  Mr. Ronny Cham (Defense Counsel for Babutsa) and Public Prosecutor  Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharuddin.

Earlier on the Public Prosecutor informed the court that her side received an instruction from Putrajaya suggesting that the court to write a letter to Georgian Embassy in China regarding to this case.

The court was also informed that the Justice Department in Georgia has informed them (prosecutor) that the husband of Babutsa Gordadze has been sentenced 15 years imprisonment for the same offense.

However, Judge Datuk David Wong Dak Wah stated that it is not the court jurisdiction to  write such letter but the Ministry of Internal Affair.
