Lokasi Perpustakaan Tuaran

Theft on planes

How many of you who thinks being on the  plane is 100% safe from theft? If you do, think again next time you travel on a plane.

Criminal gangs have resorted to stealing from passengers on aeroplanes, police say.

While one case of theft on planes was recorded in 2011, 18 such reports have been received so far this year.

The thefts occur mostly on regional flights, and some of the thieves are suspected to be syndicate members from China, who work in groups of three or four.

Traveling to Hanoi or New Delhi?

Black Hmong, Sapa Valley
I'm trying to reach to a decision whether to take on Hanoi or New Delhi this coming December 2011 for my year-end holiday. It is a decision that is hard to make. I'm so much interested to visit Hanoi but at the same time getting to visit the off the beaten track in Leh India is equally interesting. Leh is located in the northern part of India, sharing border with Tibet.

While Hanoi is also pretty interesting to visit. Getting to Sapa Valley in the northwest of Hanoi where the Black Hmong (people/tribe who live on the mountainous area)  is something I'm interested to do as well. But experiencing the winter on the highland region of Tibet is much more interesting and more adventurous to do.

Now I'm pretty close to a decision to visit New Delhi, but upon the realisation that getting to Leh is not easy as it will takes many days on bus navigating the most dangerous road in the world, that forced me put the plan as KIV.
Leh City, India

So what now? Where should I go? I'm still doing extensive research on where to go. But time is running out, I must make the decision soonest possible so that I can purchase the flight ticket while it is still cheap. Emm.. what a thing to do ehh.. :P

BorneoTip Beach Lodge - Tip of Borneo Kudat

I was in Kudat several days ago. I make it a point to visit Tanjung Simpang Mengayau or The Tip of Borneo every time I'm in Kudat to see if there is any new things in Tanjung Simpang Mengayau.

This time my trip to the Tip of Borneo was rewarded with a new discovery. I saw there are two new lodges already open for business. I took a couple of pictures to share with you.

Just in case you are thinking about spending a night watching sunset, BBQ and so on accommodation at the Tip of Borneo is no longer an issue nowadays.

The new one is BorneoTip Beach Lodge just opened for business this month. Situated at the very nice spot, with BBQ area, large car parking area, rooms for rent, restaurant and water-sport facilities such as kayaks and surfboard for rent making this lodge is one of the best place stay in Tanjung Simpang Mengayau.

I had my lunch at BorneoTip Beach Lodge when I was there. The price of foods are reasonable, for example, the cost for a fried rice at the BorneoTip Beach Lodge is the same as in Kudat Town which is RM 4.50 - RM 6.00. There are also Pisang goreng and teh tarik available at the lodge.

Wreck Diving Malaysia

This is my first items about diving but this will not be the last about diving in this blog. I don't know but I've developed a keen interest in getting to know more about diving sport especially wreck diving Malaysia.

I was first introduced about wrewreck diving malaysia, usukan bay wreck diving, Gaya Island wreck diving, wreckdivingmalaysia.comck diving in Malaysia by the owner of www.gokudat.com. He was telling me the other day about several wreck diving sites in Kudat and ever since I found myself looking for more information about wreck diving in Malaysia in general.

So there are several wreck diving sites in Malaysia especially in Sabah namely wreck diving in Kudat, Usukan bay wreck diving, Pulau Gaya 50m wreck and many more out there waiting to be discovered.

There are many diving operators in Sabah running the services to provide diving trip or tour services. Most of them are licensed and may help you to organize wreck diving day trips to the Usukan Bay Wrecks just of the West coast of Sabah (Borneo). The wrecks are located near the fishing port of Kota Belud, and about a 2 hours boat trip north from Kota Kinabalu departing from Sutera Harbour or Jesselton Point. There are three wrecks in this site spread over a distance of about one kilometre - Let's go Wreck Diving in Malaysia.

There are name given by the local for this particular wreck. They are known locally as the ‘The Rice Bowl Wreck’, ‘Upside Down Wreck’ and the ‘Usukan Bay Wreck’. All of these wrecks lie in 26 to 42 metres of water and require professional guidance. They are only suitable for divers that have PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or similar and preferably deep or wreck diving experience. We would recommend use of Nitrox for these dives.

Not very from from the the cawreck diving kudat, usukan bay wreck diving, wreckdivingmalaysia.com, Gaya island wreck divingpital city of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, deep water wreck diving in Malaysia - There is also a an excellent deep water wreck just of the coast, near Pulau Gaya (Gaya Island) which is part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP). The large wreck, still to be correctly identified, is in approximately 50 metres of water and still fairly intact.

Two more wrecks are due to hit diving tour operator itineraries very soon. One is a Japanese mine layer about 45 nautical miles from Kota Kinabalu, lying in 50 to 60 metres of water. The other is a possible U-Boat that is located only slightly north of Kota Kinabalu - Let's go Wreck Diving in Malaysia.

For those of you who are interested to go on wreck diving in Malaysia, you have come to the right place. You may visit www.kota-kinabalu.net for more information about diving in Sabah, Malaysia.

Pekan Nabalu Handicraft And Souvenir Shops

Pekan Nabalu handicrafts and souvenir shopsLast month I had the opportunity to go to Kundasang Ranau. The best thing of the whole things was the opportunity to visit Pekan Nabalu handicraft and souvenir shops in Pekan Nabalu. I was taking my friend from Malaya on holiday to Kundasang Ranau and he wanted real bad to visit Pekan Nabalu.

Oh well, I was quite happy to take him there to shop for some handcraft products and souvenir in Pekan Nabalu. Pekan Nabalu is also a place where you can see the mighty Mount Kinabalu very closely towering high right before your eyes. Pekan Nabalu is a small town on top of a mountain located in between Tamparuli and Kundasang main road.

I was there and immediately took my friend from Malaya touring around to all the Pekan Nabalu handicrafts and souvenir shops. I did my best to make sure he buy handicraft and souvenir there in Pekan Nabalu instead of visiting Filipino Market in Kota Kinabalu.

I told him, it is important for him to buy handcraft there as to help the local people instead of buying it from Filipino Market. The price of handicraft and souvenir in Pekan Nabalu is also much cheaper compared to the price for the same items in Filipino market.

He bought the idea and spent almost RM 350.00 for handicraft and souvenir in Pekan Nabalu. Everybody was really happy. We should do our best to promote the local products and to buy from the local people as to help the local to improve their livelihood.

Kionsom Waterfall Inanam or Kionsom Baru Tamparuli

Kionsom Waterfall Inanam and Kampung Kionsom Baru TamparuliWhen I first heard about Kampung Kionsom Baru, I thought it is a village located in Inanam or perhaps a village within the vicinity of Kionsom Waterfall in Inanam. I visited both Kionsom Waterfall and Kampung Kionsom Baru.

Kampung Kionsom Baru is a village located in Tamparuli and Kionsom Waterfall is located in Inanam. So it is very obvious that the two so called Kionsoms are located in a two different places, far away to each other. However both Kionsoms are beautiful sites, Kionsom Waterfall in Inanam is famous for its waterfall and Kionsom Baru is a village on top of a hill overlooking Tuaran city and Tamparuli city.

Now, after this there is no more reason why one can't differentiate the different between the two Kionsoms which is Kionsom waterfall in Inanam and Kampung Kionsom Baru in Tamparuli Sabah. You guys should visit both Kionsoms to enjoy the beauty of the nature.

Brunei - Menumbok Ferry Services

As I wrote in my blog  long ago, there are ferry  services available for Brunei - Menumbok. I saw this ferry docked in Menumbok yesterday.

I don't know whether it is cheaper to transport goods to Brunei using the ferry or by road.

Depending on the speed of the ferry and the distant between Menumbok and Brunei, I think going to Brunei by ferry is much faster. Thinking about giving it a try next time.

I forgot to ask how much it will cost to travel by the ferry to Brunei from the ticket counter. Maybe I need to get a price list next time.

The name of the ferry is Shuttle Hope. Check out the attached picture. It looks convenient and beautiful right?

How to go to Laoag from Clark or Manila

As I mentioned in my previous blog post that this coming August, which is only a few days from now, I will be traveling to Philippines. I bought my return flight ticket already from Kota Kinabalu to Clark.

Last night I received a message from my facebook that my friend is in Laoag. She got a new job there and I guess, she will be there for quite some time. I decided to use a few days out of my 8 days in Philippines to visit her in Laoag.

Now there is some problem. I don't really know how to go to Laoag from Clark or Manila. I asked my Filipino friend and he too can't give much help but he suggested that I go to Dau Bus Terminal in Clark to check out if there is any bus heading to Laoag.

I made some search through the internet and was able to come out with 2 possible way about how to go to Laoag from Clark or Manila.

a. From Manila, you can take a flight into Laoag with Cebu Pacific. I think this one is very costly but it will take you to Laoag within 1 hour.

b. To go to Dau Bus Terminal in Clark and catch a bus heading to Laoag. The journey is about 7-8 hours. I know it is a long journey but if it is your first time in Philippines it won't be so bad. You can see more things on the way to Laoag. From Laoag there is a bus heading to Baguio so I think the timing is just about perfect. Wonderful!

So if you are going to Laoag from Clark or Manila, you can choose one of the option above. Laoag, I am coming!
